MONTPELIER – Emmett Edwards was the first South Burlington cross-country runner to cross the finish line in Saturday’s Essex Invitational.

Edwards came in eighth place and the Wolves finished in sixth place in the boys team competitions. Essex was first, while U-32 and Burlington rounded out the top three.

Colin McKay (36th), Owen Severance (48th), Trey Uttecht (50th), Parker Main (57th), Tristan McNight (67th) and Eli Grossman (72nd) also finished for South Burlington.

Sierra Fisher was the top finisher in the girls competition, coming in 15th place. Fisher helped the South Burlington girls to a seventh-place finish in the team competition.

Sierra Duffy (39th), Sophie Bock (43rd), Holly Margulius (44th), Jane Kakalec (52nd), Becky Mills (79th) and Caitlin Cournoyer (85th) rounded out the Wolves finishers.
