South Burlington 3, Burr and Burton 1: South Burlington struck for two quick goals to pull away for a win over Burr and Burton on Saturday afternoon.
Bella Nevin and Maddie Liebegott each had a goal for the Wolves, who had a 2-0 lead just five minutes into the game. Liebegott added her second tally in the second half, while Ava Hamme added an assist.
Hannah Murray made two stops in goal to earn the win for South Burlington (4-1).
It was the second win in a row for the Wolves, who posted a 2-1 victory over Mount Mansfield on Tuesday, Sept. 11. Nevin had both goals for South Burlington, while Murray stopped six shots.
South Burlington 3, Saint Johnsbury 0: The South Burlington girls volleyball team topped St. Johnsbury and Burlington to start the season 2-0.
The Wolves beat St. Johnsbury on Saturday afternoon, taking the first set 25-13, the second 25-15 and wrapping up the win with a 25-14 third set.
The win followed a 3-0 victory over Burlington Wednesday, Sept. 12. The Wolves emerged with a tight 28-26 win in the first set and then got two quick wins in the second and third.
South Burlington-Burlington 30, Colchester 10: The South Burlington-Burlington football team handed visiting Colchester its first loss of the season Friday at Buck Hard Field in Burlington.
Kai Schmidt had two touchdowns for the SeaWolves, who move to 2-1. Schmidt had a game-high 150 yards, including 39-yard and 18-yard scoring runs.
Manny Dodson had an 8-yard TD run for the SeaWolves, while Kevin Papariello’s 24-yard touchdown pass to Tenzin Kelley wrapped up the scoring.
Bailey Olsen had the only touchdown for the Lakers (2-1), while Max Anderson led the team with 15 carries for 94 yards.
South Burlington 9, Middlebury 0: South Burlington’s offense exploded for a 9-0 victory over Middlebury on Friday.
Mia Angwin and Colby Casey each had two goals for the Wolves (4-1). Emma Havers, Kate Hall, Hanako Memon, Lilly Turchon and Ana Stich each tallied once for the hosts.
Ainsley Hultgren made one stop to earn the shutout in goal.
The Wolves also earned a 1-0 win over Champlain Valley on Wednesday, Sept. 12.
South Burlington 3, Burlington 0: The South Burlington boys volleyball team rebounded from a season-opening loss to Lyndon with a win over Burlington on Friday.
Rutland 2, South Burlington 1: South Burlington suffered its first loss of the season on Thursday in the championship game of Rutland’s Loyzelle Tournament.
Finn McGuinness and Braeden Carlton each had a goal for the Raiders (3-2). Jaden Kelly stopped nine shots to earn the win.
Spencer Baker had a goal for the Wolves (4-1), while Ben Capano made three saves.
South Burlington advanced to the final game after beating Mill River 6-1 on Tuesday.
Tenzin Choedak had two goals and Ben Mazza-Bergeron added a goal and two assists for the Wolves.
The South Burlington girls golf team traveled to Vermont National Country Club on Tuesday to compete in a nine-hole event.
Olivia Worcester had the team’s top score with a 61, Sage Bennet followed with a 63, Chloe Dingman finished with a 68 and Anna Hill rounded out the scorers.
