It is with deep sadness that the city shares the news of the passing of Kaiser, South Burlington Police Department’s faithful K9.
Officer Kaiser served SBPD and the Vermont Law Enforcement community with full heart and soul from July 2008 until his passing last week. Kaiser did it all—he helped get drugs off the streets; find missing persons in inclement weather; and he was bar none, the most playful and energetic dog. Kaiser was a dedicated servant to the community of South Burlington, participating in countless demonstrations for kids.
Kaiser’s partner and handler, Corporal Mark Redmond, was with him at the time of his death. Kaiser had been dealing with some medical complications that ultimately led to his passing.
“I have comfort in knowing that Kaiser was teamed with a most compassionate and faithful handler who provided him with all affection and recognition that he deserved. I am proud that Kaiser was a member of an elite team of law enforcement professionals here at SBPD who all valued his loyalty, spirit, and vigor for the job,” said Chief Trevor Whipple. He will be dearly missed by all who met him.
