Liz Sargent just completed her freshman year studying medical biology at the University of New England (UNE) in Biddeford, Maine and returns home having been named the 2017-2018 Female Rookie of the Year. According to the UNE, Sargent played a pivotal role in the field hockey team winning its fourth consecutive Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Championship. As the team’s starting goalkeeper, she posted an 18-5 record, eight shutouts, and a 1.21 goals against average (GAA). For her efforts, she was named Second Team All-CCC.
 
Sargent received numerous recognitions throughout the playing season including being named CCC Defensive Player of the Week and CCC Rookie of the Week multiple times.
 
A 2017 graduate of South Burlington High School, Sargent received the Gary Iverson Memorial Award and was named to the first team of the Vermont Softball D-I Coaches’ All-League Metro.
