Orchard School is gearing up for their first annual Orchard Fun Run to be held Friday, October 13. Together, all students, teachers, and staff will run, walk, or wheel around the school as an Orchard community. The primary goal of the PTO-sponsored event is to introduce students to the benefits of health and fitness. Depending on their grade level, the children will run different distances that mimic a road race, with a start and finish line, race shirts, race bibs, and a cheering crowd
All Orchard students from kindergarten through fifth grade will participate in the Fun Run with each classroom being led through the race course by their teacher. Once they cross the finish, the students will line the track to cheer on their classmates. Not only will they experience the physical challenge of running and the pride of their accomplishment, but they will feel the support and positive encouragement coming from parents, teachers, and friends.
The PTO reports their goal was to host a fundraiser that is in alignment with the Vermont Healthy Schools Initiatives. Their hope is that the all-school fitness event sparks not only an interest in running, but a love for accomplishment, encouragement, and community.
The Orchard Fun Run will be an annual event and the largest PTO fundraiser. Students and staff will be collecting pledges of financial support. All funds raised will go directly back into the school. For more information, visit www.orchardfunrun.fundmonkey.com.
The first annual Orchard Fun Run will begin at 8:15 a.m. Community members are welcome to join the PTO in cheering the Orchard community.
