The 49th annual Municipal Clerks Week, sponsored by the International Institute of Municipal Clerks (IIMC), was celebrated May 6 through 12 and was dutifully acknowledged by the South Burlington City Clerk’s office. In honor of the week that celebrates one of the oldest positions in local government, City Clerk Donna Kinville, Deputy City Clerk Laura Kimball, and Assistant City Clerk Deb Woodward recommitted themselves to the vital work they do by once again taking the municipal clerk’s oath. Clerks act as the main liaison between local government and its citizens, and, as the IIMC oath reads, “impart to my profession those standards of quality and integrity that the conduct of the affairs of my office shall be above reproach and to merit public confidence in our community.” Kinville expressed, “I feel that taking that oath was a good reaffirmation to the staff and the citizens of our city that we will stay impartial and to treat every citizen as we would like to be treated.” L-R: Deb Woodward, Assistant City Clerk, Donna Kinville, City Clerk, Laura Kimball, Deputy City Clerk
