Members of the South Burlington Fire Department (SBFD) visited Frederick H. Tuttle Middle School (FHTMS) last week to accept donations for Operation Fire Cuffs, an annual toy drive held by the Vermont State Police and other public safety agencies around the state. FHTMS science teacher Greg Wolf, who noted the school’s seventh grade Fusion Team collected the toys, said, “Our students love being part of this project, especially since it is helping kids who are in the hospital and away from home for the holidays. It is our desire, as a team of teachers, to impart to our students the importance of caring about the community at large, and the reward to be gained by helping others.”
This is the seventh year Operation Fire Cuffs has been in action. This year’s drive culminated December 14 with a visit to the Vermont Children’s Hospital at the University of Vermont Medical Center, where kids received presents and a visit from Santa.
