On Tuesday night at a special City Council meeting, Kevin Dorn was selected as South Burlington’s Interim City Manager.

Dorn has nearly 20 years of senior management decision making experience, including an eight year period as Secretary of the Vermont Agency of Commerce and Community Development.  As a Cabinet officer in the administration of Governor James Douglas, he headed an agency which spanned multiple disciplines from business and community development to regional and local planning.

Dorn has served on the Essex Junction and Chittenden Central School Boards.  He was Executive Officer of the Home Builders and Remodelers Association of Vermont for over 10 years.

Currently, Dorn is a consultant at Global Classroom, an IT company based in Burlington that specializes in online education and social media.

As Interim City Manager he will have the full authority of the City Manager for an anticipated term of six months while the Council searches for a permanent City Manager.

Dorn will begin his six month term Monday, April 15th .
