Bridget Burkhardt has announced that she is seeking reelection to the South Burlington School Board. “It has been a privilege to serve the families and taxpayers of South Burlington for the past two years,” Burkhardt said. “I hope that all that I have learned so far will help me to serve the community even more effectively over the next two years.”
Burkhardt says she is motivated to continue in her role because it allows her to play a part in maintaining and expanding opportunities for South Burlington’s children and families. “There are many decisions that will be made over the next few years that will have a lasting impact on the school district. I am excited to continue working with my fellow board members, district administration, teachers, staff, and the community to help chart a positive course for our schools.”
Burkhardt and her family moved to South Burlington in 2010. She is a stay-at-home mother of two sons, ages 8 and 4. Burkhardt received a B.A. from Brown University and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School. She has a background in investment banking and private equity. Her most recent work experience was as a consultant for financial institutions, such as microfinance institutions, small business banks and affordable housing lenders, in developing countries. She specialized in structuring financial instruments to help clients raise funds from both public and private sources to fulfill their missions of creating wealth and improving the lives of people in underserved communities around the world. Burkhardt’s husband, Fritz, is a graduate of Middlebury College and an Associate Professor of finance at Champlain College.
“The South Burlington community has given us so much as a family. I hope to continue to have the opportunity to give back as a member of the school board,” Burkhardt said.
