On Tuesday, Sept. 4, the South Burlington Wolves Boy’s Varsity Volleyball program opened its inaugural season with a loss to the Essex Hornets, 3-1. Though the Wolves didn’t win the match, they did win a set against the Hornets, who are a highly competitive team. On Friday, Sept. 7, however, the boys swept the Vermont Commons Flying Turtles with an exciting 3-0 win. Every member of the team received a chance to play that evening, and they walked out with their first win of the season.
“I am insanely proud of the boys and how much they have accomplished,” said Coach Ellen Oppenheim. “At the beginning of the season, we could hardly pass a ball, now we are winning matches. They have worked really hard to get to where they are.”
The team travels to Lyndon Institute this week followed by a home game against Burlington. Coach Oppenheim is joined on her staff by assistant coaches Cliff Collins and Dave Rapuno.
